Today is 16 Oct 22. Time to review the purpose of this Blog - again! It is 2 years since the last review. 🤕 2022 was shaping up well and I was on track for a decent middle distance Duathlon race. Then COVID hit me! I tried to salvage the race season but never felt strong or healthy. Looking to 2023 now and focussing on being healthy and some sprint Duathlon racing mixed with some bike TT fun on the Canyon CF

Eat Concrete

Pesky black ice. I hit the road hard today when my bike just seemed to slide from beneath me on a straight road. The camber of the road and ice were enough to take me down. I was more concerned about the following cars crushing me and my bike and I managed to grab my frame as I went down and roll onto the verge. Struth falling off hurts! Wrist shoulder and hip are suffering but the best medicine is to go swimming and loosen everything off. Not sure if the lifeguards approved of my road rash though! The bike is ok - benefits of a single speed as there are no bits hanging off in vulnerable places!

It was just so icy this morning but only once I was 20 miles into a 30 mile loop. There were numerous car accidents that I passed. Still, I will not be riding in the future if it looks anywhere near freezing. The risks are just too big . . . . like death!!

On a positive note, I swam a 100m PB yesterday at 1:14.8. Not the 1:12 I was looking for but it's chipping away!

Nice work with the swim PB dude.

Now let those wounds heal! Train smart!

Glad you survived and I really hope you have not only identified the lesson ...

However, I really do wonder about you and swimming pools ... road rash = open immune system ... swimming pool = large container of potential germs. Result = infected wounds, further assault on immune system ... I shan't go on.

Glad you're not to beat up mate, and more importantly neither is the bike :-) but learn the lesson. It really isn't worth the risks.

As I said yesterday to you, hope there is no serious damage. Now that I have the mountain bike I will use that if there is any ice/snow kicking about as its a bit more stable in those conditions.

Hope your not too sore today! I've answered your comment on my blog; no idea why you are having trouble commenting though.
